About GabLibs
GabLibs is a Mad Libs app that kids can talk to. Instead of typing or writing words on paper, children simply speak their answers out loud. The app listens, drops those words into a story template, and reads the whole thing back aloud.
With features like voice recognition, text-to-speech, and story playback with word highlighting, GabLibs makes the classic word game accessible to pre-readers and brings stories to life in a completely new way.

1. Our Commitment to Children's Privacy
GabLibs is designed for children and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers
- Location data
- Photos, videos, or audio recordings
- Biometric data (face, fingerprint, or other biometric identifiers)
- The words or stories your child creates
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
3. Information We Do Collect
We collect minimal, anonymous usage data to improve the app experience:
- Which story categories are popular
- How many stories are started and completed
- App version information
- Crash reports to fix bugs
This data is fully anonymous and cannot be linked to any individual user.
4. Voice Features
GabLibs uses text-to-speech and speech recognition. Speech recognition is processed on-device when possible. No audio recordings are stored or transmitted to our servers.
5. In-App Purchases
GabLibs offers in-app purchases for additional story packs. All purchases are protected by a parent verification gate. Purchase records are managed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store according to their respective privacy policies.
6. Biometric Authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, Fingerprint)
GabLibs uses your device's built-in authentication — such as Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint — as a parental gate to confirm that a parent or guardian is present before an in-app purchase or developer contact is allowed.
The app does not collect, access, store, or transmit any biometric or face data. Authentication is handled entirely by the operating system (iOS LocalAuthentication / Android BiometricPrompt). GabLibs receives only a pass or fail result — no facial geometry, images, or biometric templates are ever shared with the app.
Biometric data never leaves your device. It is stored exclusively in your device's Secure Enclave and is managed solely by Apple or Google under their respective platform policies. GabLibs has no ability to access, retain, or delete this data.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase Crashlytics — for anonymous crash reporting only
- Supabase — for delivering story content (no user data stored)
- Apple/Google — for processing in-app purchases
8. Data Storage
Saved stories and preferences are stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to this data.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect all information processed by GabLibs. We design our app to minimise data collection and reduce risk.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
